NO FUTURE WITHOUT VTOLS

NO FUTURE WITHOUT VTOLS started as an entry for What's So Cool About Jam, hosted by Axes & Orcs, and inspired by Jared Sinclair's game What's So Cool About Outer Space. It had a mockingly convoluted title along the lines of "WHAT'S SO COOL ABOUT A MECHA SPACE-FUTURE WITHOUT VTOLS, ANYWAY?" and was premised on the idea that sci-fi's obsession with ignoring the unlikelihood of a future filled with impractical mecha is misguided, and a prevalence of VTOLs (Vertical Take-Off and Landing vehicles) was much more probable and pragmatic.

Somewhere along the way, I abandoned the notion of making this into a game in its own right, because it felt more useful as a supplement than a system. I picked up a format I had recently taken a liking to and made it into a bookmark-sized generator. I'm also entering this into Bookmark Game Jam, hosted by Diwata ng Manila.

I ended up putting so much careful thought and research into this that I had to make a second side to the bookmark (seen in the screenshot) in order to explain the context of much of the content. Nevertheless it's only stronger for the addition, and I'll be doing something similar for my other bookmark-sized generators.
